Fire Station #4 Renovation – Air Force Research Lab, Edwards Air Force Base, CA
Station No. 4 at Edwards Air Force Base is located in a remote corner of the base at the Air Force Research Laboratory. This station performs the special duty of hazardous material response, and functions as the only HAZMAT response team in the area, providing services as far as Bakersfield.
The project consisted of the expansion of an existing fire station including bunk rooms, dining area, and restroom facilities to meet ADA requirements and asbestos survey.
Development One, Inc. provided multi-discipline architecture and engineering services for the project. Survey included the complete review and field verification of existing facilities. A review of existing dimensions, operation of existing utilities, mechanical systems, and ADA non-compliance was also done. Hazardous material assessment survey was also done for the identification of asbestos.
Although this project was an expansion project, it involved more work than a new facility would require. This was due to the unknown information on the existing facility. Project was completed on schedule and with exceptional performance reviews.
