Boiler Replacement, Pasadena Federal Building
Development One completed a boiler replacement project at the Pasadena Federal Building. The building was originally designed as a hotel and was later renovated for office use, making the boiler system inefficient for its current use.
Development One performed the following project tasks:
- Design for the replacement of the existing boiler with two non-condensing type boilers. It was determined that using two boilers would provide optimal efficiency, given that one of them could be shut down for all but the two coldest months of the year.
- The existing hot water pumps were also replaced, and the number of pumps was decreased.
- The existing 3-way valve serving the heat exchanger was replaced.
