Hangar Improvements – San Bernardino International Airport, San Bernardino, CA

Development One provided architectural design, engineering, and construction administration services for hangar improvements at San Bernardino International Airport. The project involved multiple upgrades to this 530,000 SF hangar, providing more versatility and functionality to the Airport 20140325_111006and its tenants.

The project included multiple phases, one of which was Paint Booth Improvements in Hangar Bay 4. This bay, which had previously been converted to a paint booth by Lockheed Martin, required modifications that would provide the option of either conducting two paint operations, or one paint preparation and one painting operation simultaneously. Development One analyzed the existing supply and exhaust/filter system, and subsequently reconfigured the airflow and incorporated a divider separating the bay into two spaces to prevent air contamination between sides.

Other aspects of project scope included:

  • Interior demolition
  • Foundation/floor repair in Hangar Bay No. 2
  • Lighting modifications
  • Fire protection improvements
  • HVAC modifications
  • New room construction
  • ADA upgrades
  • Storefront modification
  • Tail door repairs
