Energy & Water Operations Center Design, MCAS Miramar, San Diego, CADevelopment One provided architecture design services for this design-build renovation project for MCAS Miramar. The project goal was to convert an aging, WWII era machine shop into a state-of-the art operations center for critical base infrastructure. The Energy & Water Operations Center (EWOC) project involved substantial renovations to both the exterior and interior of the facility. Development one presented innovative design solutions that resulted in an aesthetically pleasing facility. In addition, the project also adhered to the required Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) requirements.
Interior renovations included open office areas, private offices, and private meeting areas. Development One’s design provided a creative, comfortable control center designed for the monitoring and control of base wide electrical and water systems. The design also included a high-tech training room with retractable privacy screens that offer a view into the control center.
The project also included state-of-the-art upgrades to HVAC, electrical and fire protections systems that will support the facility’s operations for the next 40+ years.
